A major part of India still means the rural areas and without uplifting the people living there, it is not possible to talk about the development of the nation as a whole. Rural Education must be fostered and village people must be empowered to make this happen. But there are many challenges that hinder promotion of proper education in the remote places of India. Although certain steps have been taken by the government to enhance the educational facilities in these remote areas, we have still miles to go. Correct form of knowledge and wisdom will ensure betterment of communities and the society as a whole.
Common Challenges
There are many existing common problems, which act as
roadblocks against fostering value-based
education among the masses. It is a different matter altogether that
the citizens living in urban areas face less problems and can send their wards
to quality institutions without having to face many of these problems.
One of the lurking problems is the lack of smooth
transportation. Most of the Indian villages are not well connected to the towns
and also with one another. Despite efforts by administration to setting up of
schools, lack of proper roads, streets make this a nightmare. Students have to
walk for miles to reach these institutes.
Low per capita income in the remote areas is one of the
reasons why the village folk can’t afford to load quality education into the
minds of their children. Education in
rural India is indirectly dependent on the funding that families can earn
or receive to become able to send children to schools. It is a kind gesture by
many well to do and concerned citizens, who donate generously for such noble
cause.
Followed by these problems is the challenge of low
infrastructure and non availability of capable teaching staff. No skilled
person would want to work for the well being of village students if not paid
well. It is important to generate sufficient money to support infrastructure
and teaching bodies. There has to be sufficient educational utilities and this
can be ensured only through generous donations by aware sections of the
society.
